Waiting…

There is a great sadness that surrounds this year. The sadness is almost palpable as each of us walks through each day of life here in 2020. We have already lost so much. Some of us more than others have lost loved ones, jobs, houses, and our health. I am not one of these but we all have lost our freedom to breathe fresh air where our feet will take us, humanity for each other, especially as we navigate this new way of managing healthcare, business, banking and any number of things. We also must act as though we are afraid of each other. We cannot even hug friends, mothers, sisters, brothers nor lovers. Perhaps a less than horrible enemy named COVID has robbed everyone of us of something precious and dear but only each of us can sense that. The other great sadness that prevails is hatred. There is a hatred for being oppressed, oppressing and the oppressed themselves but this has been sadly exaggerated and as a human I ache for the difficulties my African American friends have been through but I ache even more over the great rift that has torn between our comfort and friendship with one another. I know what discrimination is first hand and it is when you are treated like dirt, less than human because people see your skin color and judge first. They do not find out anything about you they judge you regardless and treat you according to their preconceived notions regarding your race. It feels like the most unfair thing possible in life and it is infuriating and helpless feeling. Honestly for the most part I think this is rare but when it does happen it’s jarring and creates so much damage. The damage causes misconceptions and prejudices to be solidified even more. Sometimes I am shocked that racism still exists. We are all humans with so much to offer each other. There is greatness in each person why is there a plan to destroy each other with racism. Why can’t we change the plan to be and embrace of cultural differences and understanding? I think a lot of people think this is just random but the political stronghold wants people to believe that cannot come together directing America towards a great division. It is very sad.
